Appeal of 11 NGOs: The Government to Provide Commission for Monitoring Investigation of Attacks on Journalist with the Access to Information and to Publish Reports on the Commission Work

11 NGOs (the Human Rights Action, the Center for Civic Education, the Center for Investigative Journalism, the Center for Monitoring and Research, the Center for Women and Peace Education ANIMA, the Women’s Rights Center, the Institute Alternative, the Juventas, the Network for Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector MANS, the Women’s Safe House and the Associations of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro) sent a letter to the President of the Government of Montenegro, Mr. Duško Marković, and the Vice President of the Government and Minister of Justice, Mr. Zoran Pažin, urging them provide conditions for effective work of the Commission and for informing the public about its work.

The letter recommends the Government to publish Commission reports and informs the public whether these reports and its recommendations have been referred to the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Police Directorate, whether the recommendations’ implementation has been initiated and whether any results have been achieved, as well as that the Government ensures that the  Police Directorate and the Ministry of Internal Affairs submit documents to the Commission without anonymization.

The letter emphasizes that the effective work of the Commission, as well as the regular informing of public about the results of this work is in the general interest of observing human rights and increasing public trust in the work of the Government of Montenegro and other state organs.
